Savannah and Her Mother Need Our Help

Dear Vincentians and Friends,

God has placed before us a rare and deeply meaningful opportunity to change the daily life of a Special Needs family in our community.

Through the combined efforts of the Saint Elizabeth Seton and Saint Francis of Assisi Conferences in District X, we have come to know a devoted single mother raising three children on an income just under $30,000 a year. Her youngest child, nine-year-old Savannah, lives with a genetic disorder that causes severe physical disabilities and requires her to use a wheelchair.

As Savannah grows, so do the challenges her mother faces. Each outing, each doctor’s visit, each ordinary errand requires lifting Savannah in and out of a vehicle that was never designed for her needs. What was once manageable has now become physically exhausting and increasingly unsafe for both mother and child.

Our Vincentians have made multiple home visits and explored every available option to support this family. After careful discernment, it has become clear that the most practical and life-changing solution is a used, handicapped-accessible vehicle already equipped to safely transport Savannah.

The cost of such a vehicle ranges from $30,000 to $35,000, a sum completely beyond the reach of this hardworking mother. Yet together, this is a goal we can achieve.

We are seeking to twin Conferences throughout the Council and welcome personal donations to help reach the $35,000 purchase price. Any funds received beyond that amount will go directly toward registration, insurance, and necessary incidentals to ensure the vehicle is ready and reliable for Savannah and her family.

  • This is more than a vehicle.
  • It is freedom.
  • It is safety.
  • It is dignity.
  • It is relief for a mother who has carried so much on her own.

As we begin 2026, let us come together to make a truly life-changing gift for Savannah and her family.

Thank you for opening your hearts to this extraordinary opportunity to serve Christ in our neighbor.

In the Spirit of Saint Vincent de Paul, Saint Louise de Marillac, Blessed Frederic Ozanam and Blessed Rosalie Rendu, may the Lord look upon you and give you peace in your heart.
