Every day, individuals and families throughout Cook and Lake Counties face difficult choices between paying rent, buying groceries, keeping the heat on, or purchasing essential clothing and household items. For many, a single unexpected hardship can create a crisis.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago is dedicated to serving neighbors in need with compassion, dignity, and hope. As part of an international Catholic lay organization with more than 170 years of service in Chicago, we work directly within local communities to assist individuals and families experiencing hardship, regardless of race, religion, gender, or background.
The people we serve are often closer to us than we realize. It may be a senior struggling to afford medication and utilities on a fixed income, a veteran working to rebuild stability, a family facing eviction after a job loss, or a parent trying to provide meals and clothing for growing children while balancing rising living costs.
Your support allows SVdP Chicago and our dedicated Vincentian volunteers to respond with practical assistance and compassionate care. Through your generosity, we are able to provide food, clothing, furniture, beds, rent and utility assistance, referrals to community resources, and spiritual support to neighbors facing difficult moments in their lives.
