Join SVdP Chicago this GivingTuesday in Helping Our Neighbors in Need this Winter

Dear Donor,

#GivingTuesday, celebrated on November 29, 2022, is a global generosity movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. #GivingTuesday began 10 years ago as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Join the movement and give. Whether it’s some of your time, a donation, or the power of your voice in your local community.

As we begin to prepare for #GivingTuesday, I’ve been reflecting on what a year it’s been and all the good that’s been happening through the work of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago, thanks to donors like you!

How have 2021 #GivingTuesday Donations Helped Those in Need?

  • Assisted over 88,000 people with rent, utilities, food, transportation, medical and pharmaceutical expenses. We have also assisted with car repairs so that they can get back to work.
  • Housed those on the brink or in the midst of homelessness through referrals to shelters, locating affordable housing, or paying rent during a short-term set back.
  • Provided winter coats, backpacks, clothing, etc., to the homeless living on the streets in our local communities throughout Cook and Lake Counties.

With the winter months fast approaching, respiratory and flu cases on the rise, the continued economic impact of the pandemic, and rising inflation costs, we anticipate a significant increase this winter among those we serve for food, clothing and housing assistance. Our goal is to meet these ever-increasing calls for short-term assistance. With your help, we can do this together!

About SVdP Chicago:

  • We have reached out to our Friends in Need throughout Cook and Lake Counties for over 169 years.
  • We have the experience of being a force of good throughout times of war, global pandemics, economic crises, and social changes.
  • Our volunteers serve with hearts full of love and compassion.
  • The Society helps anyone regardless of race, religion, political association, or gender.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago is assisting this year with the Venezuelan migrants who have come here with only the clothes on their backs. They have obviously never experienced a Chicago winter and are in dire need of clothing and the basic necessities to begin their lives here.

Your 2022 #GivingTuesday donation to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago is an Investment In:

  • Keeping the homeless men, women and children clothed, fed, as well assist them in locating temporary or permanent housing.
  • Assisting the Venezuelan migrants and providing them with the required necessities so that they can begin their new lives in the Chicagoland area.
  • Meet the ever-increasing calls for short-term assistance i.e., rental, utility, medical in our local communities.

We have continually offered hope to the most vulnerable in our communities when they have had no place else to turn. With your support and generous donation, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago and our dedicated volunteer members can take action against poverty, and together we will make a difference this #GivingTuesday! We will keep the good going until there are no more men, women or children without a home, food, or clothing.
