Join SVdP in Helping our Neighbors in Need to Pave a Pathway out of Poverty.
Poverty affects everyone. Unfortunately for those living in poverty, the essentials of food, clothing, and shelter are sometimes not in reach. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international non-profit organization dedicated to serving the poor and providing others with the opportunity to serve. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago provides services to individuals and families in our communities during tough times in Cook and Lake County Illinois. Due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, SVdP Chicago and our volunteers are responding to a significant rise among those we serve for food, clothing, and housing assistance.
It could be the family down your street, whose budget is impacted by the loss of employment and falls behind on their bills. A single mother who depends on free school food programs and now has hungry children learning remotely from home. An elderly person suffering the loneliness of staying at home to stay safe and needs spiritual connection. Or a Veteran who feels they have nowhere else to turn to keep them off the streets in the cold weather.
Your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago will enable our members to reach out with kindness, compassion, and love; offering hope, assistance, healing, and the possibility of a better tomorrow. It’s not just a family meal, a set of winter clothing, or keeping the gas on that your gift provides. It could be the start of a new chapter in a person’s life, a pathway towards a brighter future.
SVdP Chicago has been reaching out in our local communities throughout Cook and Lake counties for over 167 years. We have the experience of being a force of good throughout times of war, global pandemics, economic crises, and social changes. Our volunteers serve with hearts full of love and compassion and the Society helps anyone regardless of race, religion, political association, or gender.
- We’ve fed countless in need in Chicago and the suburban communities through our food pantries, holiday meal baskets, community dinners, and other local events.
- We’ve clothed the homeless, struggling young families, and Veterans trying to make it during rough patches in their lives.
- We’ve housed those on the brink or in the midst of homelessness through referrals to shelters, locating affordable housing, or paying rent during a short-term set-back. And we’ve continually offered hope to the most vulnerable in our communities when they’ve no place else to turn.
Together, with your support and generous donation, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Chicago and our dedicated volunteer members can make a difference in the Chicagoland area!
